UPDATED: 289 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death reported, 205 recoveries

There is one new death reported in the 50 to 59 age group in the North Central zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 465.

There are 289 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on April 18, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (106), South East (41), Saskatoon (32), Central East (26), North West (21), South Central (15), North Central (12), Far North West (9), Central West (7), South West (6), Far North East (2), and  North East (2) zones.

All 15 of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Ten new cases have pending residence information.

One case with pending residence information was reassigned to the South East.  

Five cases were found to be out-of-province residents and were removed from the Saskatoon (2), Central West (1), and Central East (1) zones, and cases with pending residence information (1).  

Three cases not previously reported were added to the Saskatoon zone (2) and cases with pending residence information (1).

There are now 38,160 reported cases, including 2,742 active cases.

The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case number was 261 (21.3 new cases per 100,000).  

As of April 17, 4,664 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the Regina (2,857), South East (452), Saskatoon (441), South Central (379), Central East (168), South West (103), North West (66), Central West (59), North Central (55), Far North West (24), North East (6), and Far North East (2) zones. There are 52 cases with residence pending.

There are 206 new lineage results being reported today. Of the 1,918 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 1,909 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK) and nine are B.1.351 (SA).  

An additional 11,063 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 345,126.

The 11,063 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following regions: Saskatoon (3,003), Regina (2,624), South Central (1,270), South East (997), North Central (925), Central East (766), North West (638), South West (203), North East (170), Central West (129), Far North East (58), Far North West (28), and Far North Central (9). There were 243 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

One hundred and eighty-nine people are in hospital. One hundred and forty-four people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (66), Saskatoon (42), Central East (8), North Central (7), South East (7), South Central (6), North West (4), Far North West (1), Far North East (1), North East (1), and South West (1). Forty-five people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (30), Saskatoon (10), North Central (2), South Central (2), and Central East (1).

Two hundred and five more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 34,953 recoveries.

There were 3,623 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on April 17. To date, 728,491 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
