Canada dunks Finland 82-44, advances to U17 World Cup semifinals

Canada will play Spain in Saturday's semifinals after that country bounced Australia 71-58 in quarterfinal action on Friday.

The United States beat Japan 95-59, while France rolled over Italy 83-51, setting up a France-U. S. semifinal on Saturday.

Agot Akol Makeer led Canada with 15 points. She shot 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-5 from the foul line. Jahda Denis and Deniya Prawl each chipped in for 14 points for Canada, which held quarter leads of 24-15, 37-24 and 55-33.

Yohana Fami scored 11 points and Savannah Swords added eight for the winners.

Ada Luukkanen and Tiia Talonen each scored 11 points for Finland.

Canada led in most key areas: 62-48 in rebounds, 25-14 offensive rebounds, 37-34 defensive rebounds, 20-9 steals and 3-2 in blocks.
