Public Meeting: Ward Boundary and Council Composition Review

Town of Innisfil

The Town of Innisfil Ward Boundary Review Ad Hoc Committee will be presenting preliminary ward boundary alternatives for public feedback.

Town Council composition and ward boundaries are reviewed regularly to ensure effective representation. In other words, one person’s vote should be similar in “weight” to another person’s regardless of where they live.

Innisfil Town Council is composed of nine elected members, a Councillor from each of the town’s seven wards, a Mayor, and a Deputy Mayor. The last time a ward boundary review was undertaken was in 2009. Since then, ward boundaries have remained the same. However, growth within the municipality and rising population in certain settlement areas have led to population imbalance in some wards. In 2023, in preparation for the 2026 municipal election, Council approved the creation of an ad hoc Ward Boundary Review Committee to review ward boundaries.

Public Open Houses have been scheduled.

Have your say on September 19, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. or from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Visit getinvolvedinnisfil.ca/WardReview for information on participating in the Public Open Houses and the review process. Please note that the Open Houses will be held in person at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library Lakeshore Branch (967 Innisfil Beach Road).
