Alex Ovechkin, the NHL’s freshly minted all-time leading scorer, was a force for the Capitals in Game 1 of this series with two goals and an assist as Washington took a 3-2 win in overtime in Game 1. Ovechkin scored on the power play with 1:26 left in the first period, assisted on Anthony Beauvillier’s score in the second period, then broke a 2-2 tie at the 2:26 mark of the extra period off assists from Beauvillier and Dylan Strome. Ovechkin racked up 16:45 of ice time, fired off four shots and delivered a game-high seven hits.
