ARCH is seeking a temporary full-time Summer Student to join the Hospice Team.
ARCH Hospice receives partial funding from the government. Every year, we must raise $850,000 to continue providing compassionate care for our community at no cost to residents and their families. Our community has been incredibly supportive and very generous to ARCH since we opened our doors.
Duties:
The Gardening & Office Support assists with indoor and outdoor daily tasks to ensure Hospice runs smoothly and the exterior appearance is in excellent condition.
Office & Gardening Duties:
• Answering phones: Take phone calls and transfer them to the appropriate department
• Managing mail: Sort and distribute mail, and prepare outgoing mail
• Maintaining files: Keep files and records up to date and easily accessible
• Welcoming visitors: Greet and direct visitors to the appropriate office or department
• Managing office supplies: Keep an inventory of office supplies and order new materials as needed
• Assisting with admissions: Help process administrative forms
• Preparation and Clean Up: Outdoor spaces, structural, and gardens
• Participate: Litter clean up, garbage, and recycling
• Operate: Push mowers, trimmers, etc.
• Participate: In seasonal planning to include pulling weeds, planting flowers, watering, transplanting etc.
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements through the CSJ Initiative:
Employees must be:
• between the age of 15-30,
• and either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred (international students are ineligible) and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• enrolled in a related course is an asset
• knowledgeable and experienced in office or general gardening is an asset
• physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period

• Computer Literacy: Applicable ability and experience working with Microsoft programs (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
