UPDATED: 18-year-old male in police custody following firearms-related incident in downtown Moose Jaw

The accused individual has been named as Logan Ferguson, age 18

UPDATE:

The accused individual has been named as Logan Ferguson, age 18. 

Ferguson has been charged with one count of Discharging an Airgun with the Intent to Wound, and one count of Carrying a Weapon for a Purpose Dangerous to the Public Peace.

After an investigation by police, it is determined that the victim received multiple facial wounds as a result of the incident.

Police also discovered that the firearm in question was an airgun capable of shooting pellets.

Ferguson has been remanded and will make his first appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023.


On Monday, Oct. 30, at approximately 3:40 p.m., the Moose Jaw Police Service responded to a call regarding a firearms-related incident at a local business in the downtown area. 

Police would later learn that the altercation began when the two individuals were in a public location and prior to them entering the undisclosed downtown business.

As a result of the altercation, one victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has been transported to hospital by EMS. 

The Moose Jaw Police Service has taken the accused and unnamed 18-year-old male into police custody following the incident.

The accused male is scheduled to make his first court appearance (in court) on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023.

It is confirmed that the attack is not random in nature, and that both individuals were known to one another prior to the incident.

Police have declared that there is no further danger to the public.
