There are 187 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 21, 2021.
The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (37), North East (22), Regina (22), North Central (16), Far North East (14), North West (12), Central East (11), South West (9), Far North West (6), South East (6), South Central (3), Far North Central (2), and Central West (1).
One of the new cases in the South Central is located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.
Twenty-six cases are pending residence information.
More than one-third (35.8 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.
Eight previously reported cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North Central (5) and Regina (3) zones.
There are now 52,252 reported cases, including 1,478 active cases.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 155 (12.9 new cases per 100,000).
There are no additional deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 586.
A total of 12,430 Variants of Concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,834), Saskatoon (2,176), South East (1,158), South Central (894), North West (883), North Central (664), Central East (654), South West (416), Far North West (338), Central West (150), Far North East (97), North East (86), and Far North Central (4). There are 76 screened VOCs with residence pending.
An additional 4,064 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,458,806.

There are 89 people in hospital. Seventy-four people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (30), North Central (18), Regina (14), North West (5), South Central (3), North East (2), South East (1), and South West (1). Fifteen people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (9), North Central (3), Regina (2), and North West (1). Of the 89 patients, 64 (72 per cent) are not fully vaccinated.
Ninety more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 50,188 recoveries.
There were 2,307 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan. To date, 997,669 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
