191 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths reported, 176 recoveries

Two Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. The deaths were reported in the 70 to 79 age group from the Regina zone and the 80-plus age group from the South West zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 436.

There are 191 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Mar. 31, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (98), Saskatoon (20), South Central (20), Central East (15), South East (15), South West (6), North Central (5), North West (3), North East (3), and Far North East (1) zones.  

Eighteen of the 20 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

There are five cases with pending residence information.  

Four previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North West (2) and North Central (2) zones.  

There are now 33,590 reported cases, including 1,955 active cases.  

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 201 (16.4 new cases per 100,000).  

As of Mar. 30, 1,673 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the Regina (1,348), South Central (128) and South East (109), Saskatoon (46), Central East (26), North Central (6), Central West (5), Far North East (1), and South West (1) zones. The 28 new VOCs reported in the Saskatoon zone are results from VOC screening positives COVID-19 cases tested between Mar. 24 and 29.

Of the 495 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 487 are B1.1.1.7 (UK) and eight are B1.351 (SA).

An additional 8,491 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 192,927.

The 8,491 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: Saskatoon (2,080), Regina (1,201), South Central (1,144), Central West (1,135), Central East (751), South East (623), Far North East (610), North East (509), Far North West (295), North Central (141), and Far North Central (2).

One hundred sixty people are in hospital. One hundred and forty-three people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (74), Saskatoon (38), Central East (10), South East (7), North Central (6), North West (4), South Central (2), Far North East (1), South West (1). Twenty-three people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (15), Saskatoon (5), North Central (2), and Central East (1).

One hundred and seventy-six more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 31,199 recoveries.

There were 2,978 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Mar. 30. To date, 665,449 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
