85 new COVID-19 cases, 90 recoveries

There are 85 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 16, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (21), Far North West (9), Central East (9), North Central (8), North East (8), South West (8), North West (5), Far North East (4), Regina (3), South Central (3), Far North Central (1), and South East (1). 

Two of the three new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Five cases are pending residence information.

Over than one-third (37.6 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

According to the provincial government, of the 85 new cases, 74 are in people who are not vaccinated, five are partially vaccinated, and six are fully vaccinated.

Eight cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North Central (6), Far North East (1), and Saskatoon (1) zones.

There are now 51,390 reported cases, including 1,038 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 110 (9.1 new cases per 100,000). 

There are no additional deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 586.

A total of 12,415 Variants of Concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,836), Saskatoon (2,171), South East (1,157), South Central (893), North West (877), North Central (655), Central East (654), South West (417), Far North West (338), Central West (150), Far North East (95), North East (86), and Far North Central (4). There are 82 screened VOCs with residence pending.

An additional 1,166 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,447,827.

There are 71 people in hospital. Fifty-nine people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (26), North Central (14), Regina (8), North West (4), South Central (3), South East (2), Central West (1), and Central East (1). Twelve people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (7), North Central (2), Regina (2), and North West (1). Of the 71 patients, 53 (75 per cent) are not fully vaccinated.

Ninety more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 49,766 recoveries.

There were 1,205 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan. To date, 987,469 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
