Photos: Saturday action from the Moose Jaw Minor Girls A Fastball Tournament

Teams into playoff rounds, with championship games across all divisions set for Sunday evening

MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM -- It might have looked a little touch-and-go with all the rain on Friday evening, but some hard work on the fields and plenty of re-scheduling has the Moose Jaw Minor Girls ‘A’ Fastball Tournament in full swing.

And plenty of Moose Jaw teams are right in the thick of things.

In the U11 division, the Moose Jaw Ice Crushers took a 15-1 over the Estevan Elite and defeated the Regina Saints 8-1 to finish first in Pool A. The Moose Jaw Ice Breakers, meanwhile, finished second in Pool B, falling 13-3 to the Prince Albert Aces Fiddler before rolling to a 12-0 win over the White Butte Storm.

The Breakers then played their first playoff game and defeated the Saskatoon Hustlers 17-1, setting up a match against the Ice Crushers at 8:15 a.m. Sunday.

The U11 championship final is set for 5:30 p.m. at Optimist Park Diamond 3.

The Moose Jaw Ice had little difficulty reaching the A playoffs in the U13 division, taking a 13-0 win over the Muenster As and then downing the Regina Royal Reapers 14-5. They were to face the Lloydminster Liners in their first playoff game on Saturday afternoon.

The U13 championship final takes place at Optimist Park Diamond 1.

The U15 division saw the Ice A win both their round robin games, taking a 6-2 win over the Meadow Lake Sox and getting past the Saskatoon Hustlers 14-7. They then dropped a 9-5 decision to the Lloydminster Liners in their first playoff game, and will now face the Hustlers at 8 a.m. on Sunday in the championship B bracket.

The Ice B didn’t have a lot of luck in the U15 division, falling 5-0 to the South Bow River Rockies and 6-4 to the South East Sun Devils. They’ll now rematch the Sun Devils in the B side playoffs, with the final in that bracket set for 4:15 p.m. Sunday.
