There are special logos on the ice, banners on Main Street and signs all over Moose Jaw, but on Monday afternoon, it all finally became real.
Team Canada took the ice at the Moose Jaw Events Centre in advance of the World Para Hockey Championship for the first time on Monday, with players and coaches going through a familiarization skate on the newly painted surface.
The players were later joined by members of the Regina Avengers para hockey team, who had a chance to skate with the national team and get some tips and tricks for their own game.
Fans can get their first look at Team Canada in action on Tuesday afternoon when they take on Team Korea. Game time is 3 p.m., and fans are welcome to come check out the action.
Here’s a look at some of the action from Monday afternoon, and be sure to check back Tuesday evening for a look at how things went in the pre-tournament contest!
