MOOSE JAW — The Briercrest Clippers’ men’s hockey team has reached the league championship for the first time in club history and will host the first three games of the series — starting this weekend.
The Clippers won the semifinal series 2-1 last weekend against Edmonton’s Concordia University Thunder, with an 8-4 in in game 1, a 5-3 loss in game 2 and a 4-1 victory in game 3.
“The crowd was electric in the Barkman Arena — the loudest I have ever heard it to be, that’s for us!” said Kiera Milgate, the team’s social media co-ordinator.
The team has now reached the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) championship final for the first time in club history, which is another record that the club has broken this year, she pointed out.
The championship final takes place this weekend against the two-time defending league champions Red Deer Polytechnic Kings. This is a best-of-five series, with the first three games occurring in Caronport at the Barkman Arena. If needed, the final two games will occur at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre in Red Deer.
