Central students excited to terrify community with haunted house fundraiser

The Central Collegiate Institute (CCI) band class is raising money for a spring band trip to Edmonton by putting on a haunted hospital-themed tour of the school's music wing on Friday, Oct. 28.

"It's really high-quality," said Paul McCorriston, band teacher at CCI. "People should come out, it's a lot of thrills, it's gonna be fun."

McCorriston didn't want to spoil the surprise by revealing details of the haunted house, but his students are ready to induce some enjoyable terror in advance of the Hallowe'en weekend.

"I am excited for the haunted house because I am looking forward to scaring people and perform my role as an exorcist," said Neveah Fehr, a CCI band student. "Halloween is my favourite time of year because it is a time of self-expression."

They will be offering a less-intense version of the tour for small children or on request, McCorriston noted, although the decorations and costumes are still as scary as they can make them.

"We always do that, we just ask, 'Do you want a toned-down version?' And then we just won't do anything and just let the guest walk through without jump scares or leg grabs or anything like that."

The haunted house is $3 per person and will be open from 12 to 1 p.m., and again from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 in the music department of CCI.
