An ex-RCMP officer has been charged with criminal breach of trust.

In December 2015 Jason St. Pierre of the Assiniboia RCMP detachment led a fundraising initiative for a local charity.

In January of 2017, however, it was discovered there were no funds in the charity bank account. At this point the incident was reported to the police. A review determined over $16,000 had been withdrawn and the account closed.

St. Pierre was suspended with pay during an RCMP code of conduct investigation. He resigned on June 1, 2018.

On May 22 St. Pierre was charged with criminal breach of trust.

He will appear in the Assiniboia Provincial Court on August 8 at 10 a.m.
