The Water Main Replacement Program continues to move along, although heavy rainfall has altered the construction schedule.

Work continues at three separate locations. The updated schedule is as follows:

  • Athabasca St. West between Ninth Ave. and 10th Ave.: All pipe replacement is complete. Paving on the 900 block has been delayed due to wet conditions. The approximate completion date is July 23.
  • Edmonton St. from 10th Ave. NW to 11th Ave. NW: Water main pipe is installed but there are many residential service connections left to complete. The estimated completion date is July 25.
  • First Ave. NE from Saskatchewan St. E to Caribou St. E: Crews are on the first stage of replacing water main from Saskatchewan St. to Hall St. Once this is finished, the project will continue towards Caribou.

Work is expected wrap up by the completion dates listed, weather permitting.

Other locations selected for completion during the 2019 construction season:

  • Third Ave. NE from Athabasca St. E to Hochelaga St. E
  • Main St. N from Hochelaga St. E to Athabasca St. E
  • Athabasca St. E from Main St. N to First Ave. NE
  • Fairford St. E from Fifth Ave. NE to Sixth Ave. NE
  • Stadacona St. W from 12th Ave. NW to 11th Ave. NW

The city asks that drivers continue to obey posted detours and to exercise caution around work zones.
