At last night's council meeting Coun. Brian Swanson made a motion that organizations that have received municipal project tax status by the way of council resolution and have had less than $1,000 in donations in the most recent calendar year have that designation removed was also brought before council.
Eight such projects currently exist, with four having received no donations. While newer applications have an expiry date, the lack of such a date for earlier designations was a matter of concern for Swanson, as was organizations having the ability to issue tax receipts despite not having regular donations.
Seeing as organizations not receiving donations have no impact on administration or city function, the motion was defeated.
