If you are planning on buying tickets to the upcoming Garth Brooks concert, take precautions to avoid disappointment.

Fans were ecstatic to learn recently that Garth Brooks will be performing in Regina on Saturday, August 10. It is the only Canadian date on Brooks' 2019 tour and will be the first country concert at the new Mosaic Stadium.

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. There will likely be a great demand for tickets, so be sure you are purchasing tickets from trusted sources.

In fact, the three official ways to purchase tickets on Friday are:

  • via the Ticketmaster.ca/garthbrooks website;
  • by phoning Ticketmaster Express at 855-985-5500;
  • or by using the Ticketmaster app on your mobile device.

The Consumer Protection Division of the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) is reminding the public that if you are purchasing concert tickets within 48 hours of the sale date, it is always best to buy directly from a primary seller like Ticketmaster.

That is because, according to The Ticket Sales Act, resellers are not allowed to sell tickets with the first 48 hours of going on sale. If you do make a purchase within this timeframe, there is a possibility the tickets will be fake.

Resellers may advertise and resell tickets after the 48 hour window, although they may inflate prices. Buying from a primary seller could save you money.

If you are concerned your tickets might be fake, there are two things you can look out for:

  • listed for sale without specific seat numbers; and
  • listed in U.S. dollar amounts for a Canadian show.

If you do purchase tickets from a resale site and get a fake ticket, it may be easier to get a refund if they were purchased with a credit card, as opposed to cash or debit. Read the terms and conditions on the card to understand what protections are available.

If consumers wish to file a formal complaint about ticket sales, they can contact the Consumer Protection Division toll free at 1-877-880-5550 or by email at [email protected]
