A flyby will take place on Friday, July 8 over Main Street for the Sidewalk Days Festival. Two Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CT-155 Hawk training jets and four CT-156 Harvard II from 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Sask. will conduct the flyby around 2 - 3 p.m. MDT.
As RCAF flybys are conducted with public safety in mind and dependent on the weather and flying conditions, the aircrafts will fly over no lower than 500 feet above the highest obstacle en route. The flybys allow the RCAF to demonstrate their personnel and aircraft capabilities to Canadians, as they partake in events such as this.
The CT-155 Hawk is the RCAF’s fighter training aircraft, which fighter pilot candidates train on before moving on to the CF-18 Hornet. The Hawk also supports the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program.
The CT-156 Harvard II turboprop training aircraft is the primary aircraft used in the early stages of the NFTC program. It helps new pilots move from basic flight training to high-performance jet training.
