There is plenty going on this Family Day long weekend. You could take advantage of the free fishing weekend, or you might want to check out one of these other local events.

Humane Society book store

Looking for a new book? Want to support animals? The Humane Society book store is back! One hundred per cent of the proceeds will support our furry friends. Check out their wide selection of used books, CDs, and movies. You can even help out by donating items. Please note they do not accept magazines, VHS or cassette tapes, encyclopedias, or Reader’s Digest condensed books.

The sale starts today and will run until March 16. The store is located on the Exhibition Grounds and is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winterfest

Once again, Wakamow Valley Authority invites families down to the park for its popular Winterfest event. The day will include a variety of activities, including axe throwing, Christmas tree tossing, storytelling with Barb Frazer, snowshoeing, skating, crafts, games, and wagon rides. Activities are free although there is a suggested donation for the wagon rides of $2 per rider. A hot lunch will be available. Winterfest runs today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kiwanis River Park Pavilion. Dress warmly!

Moose Jaw Warriors Hall of Fame game

The Warriors inducted Shawn Limpright and Brian Sutherby into the Warriors & Legends Hall of Fame last night. Tonight they will play their rivals the Regina Pats in the annual Hall of Fame game. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place. Limpright and Sutherby will be honoured during a pre-game ceremony. Contact the Mosaic Place box office to get your tickets.

Galentine's Day Brunch

On Sunday, Feb. 17th there will be a special celebration of women and Valentine's Day at Rock Creek Tap & Grill. You can expect mouth-watering food and good times. Space is limited but tickets were still available as of Friday morning at a cost of $25 each. A total of $5 from every ticket will be donated to Moose Jaw Transition House. Please note this is a 19-plus event and will be held in the lounge. For more information, call 306-693-3300.

YMCA Family Day

On Monday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the YMCA of Moose Jaw’s Fairford location you can enjoy a free Family Day event. The day will include rock wall climbing, a bouncy castle, learn-to-play racquetball, face painting, crafts and more. There will also be a healthy snack, courtesy of Moose Jaw Co-op. All ages are welcome.
