A new Christian Horizons group home has opened in Regina and will be providing residential supports to six residents who were previously residing in Valley View Centre.
The government provided $533,451 in annual funding for the new home, which is one of 16 group homes that Christian Horizons operates in the province through funding from the Ministry of Social Services. Each home and program is provided as support for people with disabilities, as part of the Saskatchewan Disability Strategy.
Valley View has been relocating residents since the announcement of the closure in 2012, and say the last 24 residents will have been moved to smaller group homes by the end of this year.
