Fred Penner to Streetheart: River Street Promotions unveils first acts for Homestand ‘25

The fifth annual charity concert is scheduled for Sept. 6, when Ross Wells Park will once again be transformed into Moose Jaw’s largest outdoor music venue.

MOOSE JAW — The stage is set for another unforgettable night of music and community spirit as River Street Promotions (RSP) unveiled the dynamic first wave lineup for Homestand ’25 on the afternoon of April 17.

The fifth annual charity concert is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6, when the historic Ross Wells Park will once again be transformed into Moose Jaw’s largest outdoor music venue.

Laurie Kosior-Pappenfoot with RSP delivered the announcement under cloudy skies at the venue.

“After the unprecedented success of Homestand ’24, we look forward to creating another epic day of music and celebration,” she said. “We are excited to work to pack the park and make this the most successful Homestand yet.”

Kicking off the 2025 lineup is Saskatoon’s own The Steadies, returning to the Homestand stage by popular demand after a standout performance last year. Beloved children’s entertainer Fred Penner will follow, bringing his iconic singalongs to fans of all ages.

Next up, acclaimed frontier-rock trio Elliott Brood, who were nominated for the Polaris Prize and a Juno Award, will take the stage with their gritty, roots-driven sound.

Classic rock powerhouse Streetheart rounds out the announced acts, promising a set packed with hit music and high energy.

“With the classic sound of Streetheart, the rousing country of Elliott Brood, and the thrill of Fred Penner, we feel that we are creating an event that literally has something for everyone,” Kosior-Pappenfoot said.

One further act remains under wraps — for now. Kosior-Pappenfoot confirmed that the headliner will be announced around mid-July, encouraging fans to stay tuned for more details.

The annual Homestand concert is a community-driven music festival organized by River Street Promotions. The group is a volunteer-led non-profit dedicated to promoting wellness through entertainment. Since its inception in 2021, Homestand has raised over $500,000 in support of youth wellness initiatives in the Prairie South and Holy Trinity school divisions.

Proceeds are distributed between the RSP Mental Health Wellness Fund benefiting both school divisions and Ross Wells Park, where funds are used to assist with the continued beautification of the historic venue.

By combining live music with meaningful fundraising, Homestand fosters a strong sense of community spirit while addressing critical youth mental health needs.

Homestand ’25 would not be possible without the support of key sponsors, including title sponsor K+S Potash Canada, now backing the event for the fifth consecutive year.

“We’re incredibly thankful for the continued support from K+S Potash and their team, especially Chelsea Iatridis and her leadership group,” said Kosior-Pappenfoot. “Together, we’re creating something that’s truly making a difference for youth in Saskatchewan.”

Other returning sponsors include Taylor Automotive Group, Moose Jaw Toyota, and HK Henderson Insurance. Local education partners, including the Prairie South School Division and Holy Trinity Catholic School Division, were also recognized for their ongoing collaboration.

Special thanks were extended to Charlie Meacher for his longstanding support at Ross Wells Park, and to “the hundreds of volunteers who help run the event each year.”

“Volunteers are the heartbeat of Homestand,” she said. “We couldn’t do this without them.”
