Those Guys Car Club president Kevin Kincaid was pleased to report that the first Bent Wrench Run show and shine in two years brought 68 cars to Wakamow Skating Oval and resulted in a $1,925 donation to Hunger in Moose Jaw (HiMJ).
Sharla Sept, HiMJ’s executive director, said the organization is grateful for every donation they receive. Community support is essential for HiMJ’s programs to reach as many children as possible. Donations are often used to add tasty nutritional value to the over 350 daily lunches delivered to school children in Moose Jaw and area during the school year.

The Bent Wrench Run takes place in Wakamow Valley’s skating oval every summer on Father’s Day. The pandemic disrupted the event for the last two years, so Kincaid and his fellow club members weren’t sure how it would go in 2022.
“The show was really good. We had a lower turnout, but 90 per cent of that was due to the forecast, and it did rain and drizzle all day,” Kincaid said. “But, we did still surprisingly end up with 68 cars. On a normal year I would expect anywhere from 140 to 210 cars.”
Kincaid was not discouraged by having fewer cars than pre-pandemic — he was just happy to have the gathering happen again.
Those Guys Car Club only counts 12 regular members on its roll, but the automotive community is close. Enthusiasts form networks across provincial and national borders and support each other’s efforts as much as they can, which is why they are able to have sometimes hundreds of cars at their events.
“You can always count spouses and children, so if you count associate members we might have about 27 people,” Kincaid said.
“We will be continuing the tradition next year with the Bent Wrench Run, June 18, Father’s Day in 2023, so, we’re already looking forward to that.”
