Jacqueline Williams and her husband, Jerred, four sons, and daughter hope to one day plant their roots on a quaint plot of land just south of town where her greenhouse business featuring carefully selected plants and enchanted garden products is now entering its fourth year.

Just A Girl In Her Garden consists of two business locations. There’s a floral shop located at 264 High Street West and a greenhouse located just south of town where customers can grab a complimentary coffee and enjoy a revolving selection of treats as they wander through a relaxed, stress-free environment.

Williams has always loved gardening and remembers visiting greenhouses with her mom, grandmother, and uncle, who sadly died a few years back. It was his love of flowers that first introduced Williams to the intricate beauty behind the wide variety, range, and detail of each plant that she’s since learned to appreciate.

“Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved those secret gardens – fairy gardens like enchanted forests and things like that,” said Jacqueline Williams, owner of Just A Girl In Her Garden.

Williams described her greenhouse as calming and said it contains “everything that you need for your garden” including annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs that “makes you feel happy and takes all your stresses away.”

The company first opened in 2020. At the time, Williams was determined to get the business established despite pandemic-related setbacks and initially operated from her own backyard and a warehouse she rented.

Once the pandemic concluded, the greenhouse opened on April 25, 2022, followed by the fresh flower shop on Oct. 4 of the same year.

To accommodate the short drive to the greenhouse, Williams said the store “is just not your typical greenhouse.”

“I’ve been a gardener for years,” she said. “I was always looking for something different. I could never find (certain things) around this area without having to go to Regina, Saskatoon, or to Medicine Hat. So,” she continued, “I decided to do it myself.”

If gardeners can’t find something locally, Williams said she’s a phone call away and she’ll do her best to find it for them. Customers can also call to see what’s in stock and save a trip out.

“People can call and place orders if they’re needing trees and shrubs for their shelter belts, for their farmyard, or for their yard in town,” Williams said, adding that she usually receives orders right into September.

The greenhouse has a mobile landscape specialist, and Williams said she arranges custom planting pots and layouts with her own personal touch. These arrangements can be used for home garden spaces, businesses, or to add a personal touch to any event. If your garden project seems a bit daunting, you can call to inquire about several classes offered by the company.

“We love the community support (and) we love when people come out and visit us,” Williams said. “It’s just so humbling to know that everyone is loving what we’re doing as much as we are.”

The greenhouse is open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday to Saturday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The greenhouse will remain open until the weather turns, which Williams said is typically late September or mid-October.

The greenhouse is located south of Moose Jaw and can be accessed by turning south down Range Road 2272 off Highway 363. You’ll find it 11.2 kilometres ahead and on your right.
