Dog owners looking to provide their furry friends with the best diet possible may want to stop by the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre (335 Fourth Ave. SW) this weekend.
Moose Jaw Families for Change (MJFFC) will host Let’s Talk Raw, an information session on feeding raw food to dogs, on Sunday, June 9 beginning at 1 p.m. The session will be led by Paddy from Fido and Felix Foods and Wanda from Gram’s Real Meat Dog Treats.
It should prove to be a very informative afternoon.
“It is a partnership with Gram’s Real Meat Dog Treats and Fido and Felix Foods from Regina. These ladies have experience in feeding raw for dogs. They have all the information about the nutritional benefits for dogs in eating biologically specific foods,” said Katie Statler, community coordinator with MJFFC.
“They will touch on processed foods vs. raw and the benefits for dogs. They will talk about cholesterol, the carb intake, things like that. They will do a small demo as to what meal prep could look like. They will also answer any questions for folks who have questions about feeding raw, and they will talk about the myths vs. the facts and some of the research that supports the benefits of feeding raw.”
Statler says it is a great opportunity to welcome people into the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre.
“We try to utilize the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre for a variety of different reasons, other than our own purpose. Gram’s Real Meat Dog Treats was one of our vendors in the Imagine Local: Craft Sale we held here a while ago. In partnership with her friend Paddy from Fido and Felix Foods, they wanted to do something a bit informational, so we offered to them the use of our space. We think it is a great way to promote our building and to also reach out to the community and offer this sort of different service.”
Gram’s Real Meat Dog Treats will have items for sale. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Moose Jaw Families for Change. There is no obligation to purchase.
The cost to attend is $5 per person. All proceeds will go to Moose Jaw Families for Change. If you wish to pre-register, please contact [email protected]. For updates, visit the event’s Facebook listing.
