Legion to lay wreath in Crescent Park to honour Queen Elizabeth II

The event occurs at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, at the Crescent Park memorial cross.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 59 plans to honour Canada's late head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, by laying a wreath at the memorial in Crescent Park.

The legion is inviting all members of the public to attend the event to help remember and commemorate Canada's Sovereign, her was an incredible leader and a veteran of the Second World War.

The organization is also inviting all members of the legion to attend the ceremony and strongly encourages them to wear formal legion dress — blazer and tie — and a self-acquired black armband if desired.

The event occurs at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19.

As part of this day, the legion office will be closed out of respect for the death of the Queen. The legion's Memorial Lounge will also have reduced hours because the organization will hold a gathering from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. following the Crescent Park wreath laying.

Lest we forget.
