It’ll be a busy, busy weekend for Moose Jaw and area teams
The massive blizzard currently bearing down on the province might change things substantially, but based on how things look right now, it’s going to be a busy weekend of games for local AAA and AA hockey teams.

No less than 16 games are scheduled for Moose Jaw and Prairie Hockey Academy squads in the Sask Male AAA Hockey League, Sask AA Hockey League and Sask Female Hockey League from Friday through Sunday.

The Moose Jaw AAA Warriors are back in action with a home-and-away set against the Notre Dame Hounds, with the first game set for Friday at 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place. That contest is once again sold out, with a crowd expected to easily hit the 150 maximum allowed under COVID-19 regulations.

Also in action at home Friday are the U18 AA Warriors, who will take on Estevan at 7:30 p.m. at the Red Knight Arena at 15 Wing, while the Prairie Hockey Academy U16 Cougars will host the Regina Capitals at 7 p.m. at Barkman Arena in Caronport.

The U15 Mavericks are in Estevan and U13 Mavericks are in Weyburn.

The majority of local teams will hit the road Saturday, with the lone home game seeing the U13 Mavericks hosting Weyburn for their return match at 2:30 p.m. at the Bert Hunt.

The U13 AA Warriors are at Melville, U15 AA Warriors at Notre Dame, Prairie Hockey U16 at the Regina Capitals and Prairie Hockey U17 at Swift Current

Depending on weather conditions, local teams will be in action enmasse at home on Sunday.

The U13 Mavericks kick things off at 12 p.m. against Estevan at the Bert Hunt, while the U13 AA Warriors will host Melville at 12:30 p.m. at the Kinsmen Arena. The PHA U17 Cougars will host Swift Current at 12 p.m. at the Barkman.

The U15 Warriors take on Notre Dame at 2:45 p.m. at the Bert Hunt to round out local games.
