An end-by-end look at the semifinal game between Canada's Brad Jacobs and Scotland's Bruce Mouat

10th end: Hardie makes takeout on Canada stone at top of house, three rocks line up with Canada shot at back touching four foot, two Scotland stones frozen in front. Kennedy freezes to Scotland stone in back eight foot. Hardie hit front Scotland stone and runs back but jams on Canada rock at back of house, Canada sitting shot in four foot. Kennedy tries tapback to lay two but jams, Scotland laying one in four foot behind cover, Canada second shot touching back four foot. Hardie draws top four foot to lay two in four foot, with long guard making double difficult. Jacobs makes angle raise hit to get things moving, Canada shot rock touching back four foot. Mouat hits to sit three. Jacobs has miracle triple for win, comes in thin and only gets one. Scotland gets two and the win.

Ninth end: After Gallant makes nice double takeout, Canada laying two frozen together top eight foot and counting third shot at top edge 12 foot. Hardie makes double to sit shot full eight foot. Kennedy throws runback takeout and makes it but rolls full 12 foot, leaving easy double that Hardie makes. Kennedy throws big weight takeout and makes double, clearing out house. Mouat draws top eight foot. Jacobs makes take out sits top eight foot. Mouat hits and sticks top eight foot. Jacobs hits and rolls out for blank.

Eighth end: Kennedy throws centreline guard with final shot, Canada has lone rock in house sitting top four foot. Hardie makes come around tap, Canada sits shot rock edge of four foot behind t-line, Scotland full eight foot other side of house above t-line. Jacobs takes out Scotland stone in eight foot and sticks, touching 12 foot. Mouat attempts to draw for shot but comes in a touch heavy to sit back eight foot touching four foot, Canada still shot at edge of four foot. Jacobs draws to top button, but Scotland has a shot at getting out of trouble but decides to draw for one and makes it.

Also: Switzerland 7 China 3 -- China takes one in nine, but decides that’s enough. Switzerland will play for gold, China for bronze.

Seventh end: Kennedy hits and rolls full four foot behind Scotland stone top 12 foot, Scotland also sitting one back eight foot, Canada has one side 12 foot above t-line. Hardie runs back own stone in 12 foot , makes takeout and sits on button. Kennedy tries touch double but only gets one and sits open full four foot. Mouat hits that rock and sits top edge flour foot open. There’s a double there, and Jacobs makes it to sit two. Mouat makes double of his own to sit one touching eight foot, Canada rock rolls to edge 12 foot. Jacobs has touch double and makes it to score two and the place explodes. Turning point in game?

Also: Switzerland 7 China 2 -- Switzerland takes one in eighth.

Sixth end: At third stones, Scotland sits full four foot with Canada stone frozen in front, also Scotland rock in side 12 foot. Kennedy takes out rock in 12 foot and sticks. Hardie throws draw to top 12 foot. Kennedy puts up guard above 12 foot. Hardie makes double takeout, Scotland sitting two back eight foot and side 12 foot. Jacobs flashes on delicate takeout on Scotland stone back eight foot. Mouat takes out Canada rock biting 12 foot, still lays two back eight foot and side 12 foot. Jacobs tries freeze to Scotland rock in eight foot and comes up light. Mouat has hit for three and takes out Canada rock but rolls out, Scotland scores two.

Fifth end: Clean end up to third stones, Kennedy guards Canada rock top four foot. Hardie takes that out and rolls back full eight foot. Kennedy hits to sit side eight foot touching four foot. Hardie nose hits to sit full eight foot. Jacobs nose hits to sit full eight foot on t-line. Mouat makes takeout and rolls full 12 foot on t-line. Jacobs takes out and rolls back full eight foot behind cover. Mouat hits and rolls out for blank.

Also: Switzerland 6 China 1 after six

Fourth end: Third stones, Kennedy draws to top eight foot, Canada sitting second shot full eight foot and Scotland third shot full four foot. Hardie makes runback and clears out a bunch, Canada sitting open front eight foot. Kennedy throws long guard. Hardie taps out and rolls side eight foot. Jacobs hits and rolls behind cover touching back four foot. Mouat makes hack weight takeout through port to sit one touching back four foot. Jacobs makes takeout through same port and rolls back 12 foot. Mouat hits and blanks.

Switzerland 4 China 1 -- Switzerland makes nice draw full four foot behind cover to score pair.

Third end: Scotland laying two on button behind cover and full side eight foot on the t-line at third’s stones. Kennedy throws touch draw to tap back Scotland stone on button and sit shot behind cover. Hardie makes nice angle takeout, Scotland sits previous two shot rocks. Kennedy just misses thin double, Scotland sits one back four foot behind cover. Mouat draws full top 12 foot as guard. Jacobs draws button in front of Scotland stone, but leaves just enough space for Mouat to pick out, and he does. Jacobs draws back button for one.

Also: Switzerland 2 China 1 -- Switzerland scores pair in first end, China blanks next two before being forced to one in fourth.

Second end: Lammie misses runback hit on final shot, Kennedy draws top eight foot, Canada sits two also top button. Hardie tries runback double, only gets front stone, Canada sits one top button. Kennedy throws centreline guard. Hardie hits rocks in front and gets rid of a few while rolling into house, Scotland has three rocks in front of house, Canada still counting one on four foot. Jacobs makes nice double to get rid of pair of Scotland rocks and roll full eight foot to sit two. Mouat makes double and rolls to edge 12 foot, Scotland has two rocks top and side edge 12. Jacobs just misses double, Mouat has draw for two and makes it.

First end: Canada has hammer thanks to first place finish. Gallant makes nice double with first shot. End progresses, Kennedy makes nice hit and roll to sit frozen on Scotland stone at back eight foot. Hardie draws down to face of Kennedy’s previous stone touching four foot. Kennedy taps that rock back to sit full four foot behind cover, Scotland second shot touching back four foot. Mouat taps back Canada shot rock to sit shot in front of that stone in four foot. Jacobs hits to get things moving, Canada lays one touching back four foot. Mouat attempts freeze but comes in a bit heavy and taps back, leaving Jacobs a draw for one with backing. He makes it, Canada scores one.

They had an absolute barnburner in their round robin meeting, and now they get to do it all over again -- this time with much, much more on the line.

It’s the World Men’s Curling Championship semifinal between Canada’s Brad Jacobs and Scotland’s Bruce Mouat. 

Canada takes to the ice with Jacobs, third Marc Kennedy, second Brett Gallant and lead Ben Hebert.

Scotland features Mouat, third Grant Hardie, second Bobby Lammie and lead Hammy McMillan.

Canada finished 11-1 in the round robin, Scotland was 8-4, but Mouat took a 6-5 extra end win over Jacobs way back in Draw 7 on Monday.
