Man accused of attempted murder during home invasion makes first court appearance

Joshua Bradley Adams, 28, made his first court appearance on Sept. 15 after his arrest by the Moose Jaw Police Service during their investigation into a Sept. 13 home invasion

Joshua Bradley Adams, 28, made his first court appearance on Sept. 15 after his arrest by the Moose Jaw Police Service during their investigation into a Sept. 13 home invasion that left the home's occupant seriously injured and requiring hospitalization — a second suspect remains at large.

During his first appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court before Judge Brian Hendrickson, Crown prosecutors recommended against Adams' release. The Crown further recommended that if Adams were to be granted bail, he be subject to Electronic Monitoring. Judge Hendrickson accepted the Crown recommendation and granted a two-week adjournment for Adams and his counsel to prepare for a bail hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Adams was taken into custody after Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) officers responded to a call around 8 p.m. on the 1200 block of Irving Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old male in the residence with a serious, but non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the head, as well as multiple stab wounds.

Adams' co-accused, Gill Ryan Perreault, 29, remains at large and wanted by police. The MJPS has warned the public that Perreault, described as 5'9" with brown eyes and black hair, could be armed and dangerous. If spotted by a member of the public, Perreault should not be approached.

Adams and Perreault were not on scene when MJPS officers arrived at the residence in question, but Adams was later arrested without incident.

Adams has a lifetime prohibition order not to possess firearms. He faces charges of one count of breaking and entering, one count of attempted murder, one count of possessing a firearm while prohibited, and one count of possessing a firearm without a valid license or registration.

Perreault is facing one count of breaking and entering and one count of attempted murder.

While investigating the South Hill residence, officers discovered and seized one kilogram of fentanyl with a street value of roughly $400,000, along with $6,700 in Canadian currency.

The investigation is ongoing and the MJPS have promised further updates as they become available.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Perreault should contact CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477 or the Moose Jaw Police Service at 306-694-7600
