Marquee replacement at the Mae Wilson begins this week

Replacing the aging marquee on the front of the Cultural Centre may disrupt traffic for a day this week
marquee construction

The replacement of the Cultural Centre’s marquee has begun and the City of Moose Jaw is warning pedestrians that the construction may periodically close the sidewalk in front of the theatre.

The northbound lanes between Fairford Street and High Street will also be closed on Sept. 18, to accommodate the project.

Businesses in that area will remain open during the period of construction, including the box office, which can be accessed through the north doors of the Cultural Centre.

The marquee replacement project is being undertaken by the parks and recreation department to preserve the historical identity of the Mae Wilson Theatre, formerly the Capitol Theatre, which was declared a heritage site in 2001.

Completion of the project is expected by Sept. 27, weather permitting.
