Men charged with variety of offences related to stolen property

Suspicious vehicle in Caronport area leads to investigation and subsequent charges

A suspicious vehicle that turned out to be stolen led to two men being hit with a litany of charges related to stolen property and other offences.

Officers from the Moose Jaw RCMP began an investigation into stolen property in the Caronport area on Apr. 15, at which time the aforementioned vehicle was found and several stolen items were recovered. A search warrant was executed on the same day against a rental vehicle, which resulted in more stolen items being found.

Further investigation has resulted in charges against two men.

Mark Morison, 35, is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of break in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime, fail to comply with release order conditions, possession of Schedule I drugs and possession of Schedule I drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He is currently being held in custody and will make his next court appearance on May 4, 2020.

Ron Potomski, 45, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of break in instruments, fail to comply with release order conditions and fail to comply with probation order. Potomski’s next court appearance is June 4, 2020.

On April 30, officers executed a second search warrant on a residence in Mortlach as part of another ongoing investigation into stolen property. Several stolen items were recovered including a truck topper, boots, and an assortment of tools.

This investigation is still ongoing.
