Another day, another rainout for the Moose Jaw Miller Express.
While the much-needed rain has been a boon for farmers, it’s played havoc with the Western Canadian Baseball League schedule, with three of the five games scheduled for Saturday night – all in Saskatchewan – postponed until later in the month or mid-July.
That’s where the Miller Express find themselves, as their contest Saturday against the Weyburn Beavers in Weyburn has been moved forward to Sunday, July 14, where they’ll play a pair of seven-inning contests beginning at 4:35 p.m.
That’ll make for an even busier schedule for the local squad and will mark a stretch of eight games in six days – three against the Brooks Bombers at Ross Wells Park from July 9 to 11; a doubleheader in Yorkton against the Cardinals on July 12, one in Yorkton on July 13 and the twinbill in Weyburn the following night.
The Express also have a doubleheader against the Beavers scheduled for Aug. 4 in Moose Jaw after the home rainout on Friday.
Moose Jaw is currently 10-8 on the season and sits six games back of the first-place Beavers – winners of 16 straight after losing their first two – and are back in action Sunday when they host the Melville Millionaires. Game time is 4 p.m. at Ross Wells Park, with a high of 21 C forecast and a 40 per cent chance of showers through the day as of 3 p.m. on Saturday.
