MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM -- The Moose Jaw Miller Express are back over .500 thanks to a solid win over the Swift Current 57’s in Western Canadian Baseball League action on Tuesday night.

The Express fell behind 4-2 in the first inning but went on a tear from there, scoring a run in the second, five more in the third and three in the fourth for an 11-4 edge through four innings. Things were all but academic from there, as Moose Jaw went on to a 13-8 victory in Swift Current.

The Miller Express are now 23-22 on the season with back-to-back wins and have moved into a tie for third place in the East Division with the Saskatoon Berries, 3 ½ games back of the Medicine Hat Mavericks for second.

The Express did a good portion of their damage with the long ball, led by Joe Osborn with a 4-for-4 night that included a home run, double, two runs scored and three runs batted in. Moose Jaw hit four round-trippers all told, with Nate Mensik launching his team-best 11th of the season while Nate Houston and Garrett Dennis also went yard at Mitchell Field.

Houston ended up 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI, while Austin Gurney and Ethan Bear also crossed the plate twice each. Thomas Soto also had a solid night at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Matt Vasquez got the start for Moose Jaw and allowed seven runs on eight hits over 4 ⅓ innings and striking out three. Julian Gonzalez went the next 2 ⅔ and allowed a run on two hits; Drew Sorrentino gave up a single hit over the final two innings.

Luca Hoerger led Swift Current with a 3-for-5 showing that included a home run, two runs scored and four RBI; Demetrio Archuleta was 3-for-3 with a round tripper, three runs scored and two RBI.

Adam Korte got the start for the 57's and allowed five runs on four hits in 2 ⅓ innings, with Jaylen Gutierrez unable to stop the bleeding and allowing six runs on seven hits over the next 1 ⅓. Jorge Maza-Leon, Andres Mendez and Matthew Chandler all saw action in relief.

The Miller Express are on the road for games in Lethbridge on Wednesday and Thursday before returning home to face Swift Current on Friday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m. at Ross Wells Park.
