Event to act as food drive for Moose Jaw and District Food Bank, with fans asked to bring non-perishable food item to games at Elk’s Field
Minor football U14 final 3
Moose Jaw Kinsmen Minor Football will be holding a special food drive on Saturday.

Elk’s Field will be the hub of football in Canada’s Most Notorious City this weekend, and if everything goes according to plan, the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank will be receiving a large donation because of it.

Kinsmen Moose Jaw Minor Football is holding a Tackle Hunger in Moose Jaw event both Friday and Saturday, partnering with the local high school football teams to bring in as many donations as possible for the food bank.

It all starts on Friday night during the Conference 2A Nine-Man Football League’s regular season debut as the defending champion Lumsden Devils take on the Vanier Vikings at 6:15 p.m.

That contest will be followed by the Rural 5A 12-Man Football League game between the Peacock Tornadoes and Central Cyclones, with that contest taking place immediately following the Vanier game around 8:15 p.m.

The food drive continues in earnest the following day during KMJMF’s Saturday Slugfest.

The full slate of games begins in the U12 division with the Estevan Chargers (0-1) at Moose Jaw Spartans (2-0) at 3 p.m., followed by the Moose Jaw Bulldogs (1-0) doing battle with the Moose Jaw Lions (2-0) at 5 p.m. The U14 division then takes centre stage with the final game of the day, as the Moose Jaw Vikings (2-0) face off against the Moose Jaw Raiders (2-0) at 7 p.m.

Donations can be dropped off at the Food Bank van and donation bins located next to the announcer’s tower.
