Moose Jaw Pee Wee Ice to face New Zealand squad in international exhibition

Barnstorming Under-14 Kiwi team at Optimist Park for doubleheader this Sunday
The Moose Jaw Pee Wee Ice have faced a lot of opponents this past season in under-14 girls fastball action, but their next one will be bringing along a rather famous pre-game weapon.

And you can bet it might be the only time many of the local girls will ever have to face down a Haka.

The Ice will be playing a pair of games on Sunday, July 28 at Optimist Park against the New Zealand ISA U-14 Softball Academy team barnstorming through Saskatchewan as part of the International Softball Cup tournament this week in Saskatoon.

The tournament – which started last year and features exhibition games between Saskatoon Pee Wee squads and the New Zealand ISA teams – takes place July 24 and 25 at Bob Van Impe Stadium before the Kiwis make the trip south to take on the Ice.

The first game of the doubleheader will take place at 1:30 p.m. with game two slated for 3:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults, with children under 10 admitted free.

Be sure to check back for more on the event later!
