The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission hosted their annual Apprenticeship Awards on Nov. 1 in Regina, honouring journeyperson and tradespeople from around the province for their achievements.
The Outstanding New Journeypersons award was given to 32 recipients, awarded based on academic success to the top journeyperson in each trade. Recipients all scored the highest marks in the journeyperson certification exams last year for their trade.
Of those recipients, three took the stage to represent Moose Jaw: Rodney Eisen, agricultural equipment technician, Andrew Moggey, industrial mechanic, and Dean Eby, instrumentation and control technician.
Eisen also was one of three recipients of the Young’s Equipment Inc./Western Equipment Dealers Association scholarship.
The award for Outstanding Trade Board went to the Landscape Horticulturalist Trade Board, held by Karen Zunti from Warman, and Leslie Cornell and Kurtis Langton from Moose Jaw. This award began with a nomination process, and was ultimately decided internally by a committee from the SATCC.
This is the 19th year that the SATCC has held the Apprenticeship Awards, and communications and marketing director Chelsea Coupal is proud to see another group of accomplished tradespeople take the stage.
“The Apprenticeship Awards are really an opportunity for us to celebrate outstanding achievement in apprenticeship and the skilled trades,” said Coupal. “The awards are a wonderful event and we look forward to hosting them every year. On behalf of the SATCC, congratulations to all of the winners.”
