Moose Jaw's advance polls see bigger turnout over 2020

The results show that 987 more residents in this year's advance polls than in 2020.

MOOSE JAW — The number of residents who voted in the advance polls this year was nearly 1,000 more than of those who voted in the 2020 advance polls, data show.

The City of Moose Jaw held six advance polls between the end of October and the first week of November for the 2024 election. The results from those polls show that 3,061 residents voted, which is 987 more than the 2,074 ballots cast in the advance polls in 2020, according to information from the city.

The 3,061 votes represent roughly 11.3 per cent of all eligible voters in Moose Jaw, which this year is estimated at 27,264.

The city’s municipal election happens on Wednesday, Nov. 13, and the City of Moose Jaw encourages all eligible residents to cast a ballot. Some final reminders for voters:

  • There are four polling stations: MJ Exhibition Convention Centre at 250 Thatcher Dr. E., Church of Our Lady at 566 Vaughan St., Cosmo Senior Centre at 235 3rd Ave NE and Minto United Church at 1036 7th Ave. NW
  • To find the polling station at which you should vote, use the interactive poll map on the city’s election page at www.MooseJaw.ca/Election. A polling map is also posted in the entrance to city hall
  • You must have at least one piece of identification to vote
  • There is free transit service on Nov. 13. Click here to view that day’s transit schedule
  • To receive your ballot, your poll clerk will help you fill out a short voter registration form at the polling station. You have the option to print it off and fill it out ahead of time to save time at the polls — click here to view/print the online voter registration form
  • Polls are open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. If you are still in line in the polling station when the polls close, you will still be able to cast your ballot
  • Results will start coming in after 8 p.m. and will be available with this link. Shaw Cable will also stream the results for Moose Jaw Shaw customers
  • Residents are welcome to watch the results in council chambers, second floor of Moose Jaw city hall. Doors to council chambers will open at 7:30 p.m.
