MOOSE JAW — Holy Trinity Catholic School Division has released more information about the upcoming byelection in June, while it will soon start accepting nomination papers from interested individuals.

The division has created a web page called “Byelection 2025” on its website under the “Board” tab at the top with information about the call for nominations, the nomination form, the criminal record check that candidates must fill out, a form with criteria about who can run and background about the school division, the candidate profile and stats about the organization.

These forms can be found at www.htcsd.ca, by emailing [email protected], by contacting the division’s returning officer, Curt Van Parys, at 306-694-5333 or [email protected], or from city hall’s main floor lobby.

The position open for nomination is one trustee chair in the Moose Jaw subdivision. This spot was formerly occupied by Christine Boyczuk, a long-serving board member and dedicated literacy and education supporter who died unexpectedly in February.

The City of Moose Jaw’s returning officer will soon advertise the notice of call for nominations for the subdivision of Moose Jaw. City hall and the Holy Trinity board office will start accepting nomination papers from Wednesday, April 23, until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, while the byelection will occur on Wednesday, June 11.

City council agreed during its April meeting to support the byelection by appointing Dawn Lugrin and Chelsey Domes as associate returning officers to help the school division conduct the vote.

The byelection’s estimated cost is $35,000, and while the city clerk’s office will manage expenses, Holy Trinity will repay all costs to Moose Jaw and the city will incur no expenses.

The next Holy Trinity board meeting is Monday, May 12.
