Highway 1 heading west of Moose Jaw is currently closed to traffic due to a multi-vehicle accident reported 10 kilometres west of Chaplin, Sask.
The Saskatchewan Highway Hotline reported an accident in the westbound lane that is causing a pile-up of vehicles just after 3 p.m. on Monday, with an advisory to drivers to avoid the area. Emergency crews, including police and Moose Jaw & District Paramedics, are on site.
Drivers are also advised to pull off the highway as far as they can when approaching this section of highway, to allow emergency vehicles to get through and snowplow operators to clear the road once possible.
Road conditions are reportedly icy, with low visibility due to high winds and blowing snow.
Highway 1 West is currently closed from Moose Jaw to Maple Creek due to poor conditions, as is Highway 2 north to Chamberlain. Highway 1 east to Belle Plaine is also closed due to weather conditions.
