Museum and art gallery features tea set used during Queen's 1959 tour

Queen Elizabeth II tours the Wells farm near Tuxford on July 22, 1959, which is one of three tours she has made to Moose Jaw.

Queen Elizabeth II toured Moose Jaw three times in her life, once as a princess in 1951 and twice as Queen in 1959 and 1978

The Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery features several pictures and artifacts from the tour that the Queen and Prince Philip took of a Tuxford-area farm on July 22, 1959.

The farm of Carl and Olive Wells was chosen because it was a mixed farm located one mile from the paved road that ran between Chamberlain and Moose Jaw. It was still farmed by the family of John and Effie Thomas who had broken the land as homesteaders and pioneers.
