The Southern Cruisers Car Club is getting ready for the last Show n’ Shine of the season on Sept. 21, and this year they’ve got a twist for car enthusiasts.

In addition to the rows of special interest cars, trucks, and motorcycles, the club has partnered with the Assiniboia & District Museum to offer an open-hood display of their antique car exhibit.

“We thought it would be fitting to run the two events together, include the museum in our event,” said Heath Mohr, member of the Southern Cruisers. “Hopefully, it adds a little bit of a different element to the car show as well.”

The show this year will take place outside the museum, which will be open and offering free admission to see their extensive collection of antique motor vehicles. Mohr is sure that this is the first time the museum has ever done a hoods-up display.

A barbecue will also be taking place at the same time, with all of the proceeds going back to the Assiniboia & District Museum.

The Show n’ Shine itself is also free to the public to stop by, as well as free to car collectors hoping to enter — there’s no registration required, just bring that hotrod down and be parked by 11 a.m.

Fall is usually when car shows begin wrapping up, and the fall Show n’ Shine has been the final event from the Southern Cruisers for a number of years — they won’t be back until the weather warms up again. Mohr hopes to see people out to make a whole day of enjoying some interesting cars.

“One of the biggest initiatives of our car club has always been to raise awareness of the car hobby, the antique car and custom car hobby and stuff like that,” said Mohr. “And the museum in town here actually has a really good automobile display and it's amazing how many people you talk to, even people from town, that don't realize just what we have.”

Visitors are welcome from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., and any questions about the event can be directed to Mohr at 1 (306) 640-9422.
