Outdoor flea market offers visitors “little bit of everything”

Treasures are found and bought at garage sales and flea markets.

The outdoor flea market at the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum will offer a range of treasures and practical stuff on Sunday, June 25.

The second annual outdoor flea market “has a little bit of everything,” says Evan Davis, one of the organizers.

“We have antiques, collectibles, car parts, Tupperware, baking.” Vendors as of this writing numbered over 60, just ahead of last year.

“About half our vendors are repeats from last year and half are new vendors.’’

The event, runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, gives visitors an opportunity to explore the pioneer village, the ship and the 200 plus vintage cars, trucks and tractors.

Vendors range from Willow Bunch near the U.S. border to Leask near Yorkton, Warman, Saskatoon, Regina, Medicine Hat, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, with one from Manitoba.

“You’ve paid your admission. Why not walk around and view the museum?”

The museum tried the flea market with success last year and decided to do it again, Davis said.

The concession will operate in the Kampen Hall, cash only.

People movers will ferry visitors from the main gate to the sale site in the open field towards the 1913 grain elevator.

Davis said new vendors will be accepted until the sites are full and [if he wanted] he could invent new ones.

Vendors get a 20-foot by 20-foot space to sell from their vehicles or from tables for $20.

To book space call Davis at 306-981-4925.

The museum is located 13 km south of Moose Jaw on Highway Two.
