It’ll be another busy week of action at the Barkman Arena in Caronport as the Prairie Hockey Academy hosts the Dave King Elite U15 Invitational tournament beginning Thursday evening.

The eight-team tournament features clubs from western Canada and the northern U.S. and will act as a prime scouting opportunity for scouts looking for talent for the 2024 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft.

It all begins Thursday night when the North Shore Warriors U15 Prep (8-11-0-0, ninth in Canadian Sport School Hockey League) take on the Prairie Hockey Academy Cougars (7-12-0-0 CSSHL, tied for 12th) at 5 p.m. at the Barkman.

PHA then faces the West Central Wheat Kings (4-20-1-0, last in the Sask AA Hockey League North Division) in their lone game Friday at 3 p.m. before wrapping up the preliminary round against the Minot Wolves U15 AA (14-15-1, tournament schedule) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Pool B features the Northern Alberta Extreme (14-3-0-1, fifth place CSSHL), Notre Dame (8-10-0-1, 10th place CSSHL), Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5-14-1-0, 15th place CSSHL) and Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3-15-2-0, 17th place CSSHL).

The top two teams from each pool advance to the championship round, with semifinals at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday at the Barkman Arena and Red Knight Arena at 15 Wing Moose Jaw.

The gold medal game is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Barkman.

The tournament is named for longtime Prairie Hockey Academy advisor Dave King, the former Canadian National Team and NHL coach who has conducted clinics and worked with the PHA programs since its inception. King is also the father of PHA Director of Player Development and Moose Jaw Warriors assistant coach Scott King.

Games will be broadcast on www.flohockey.tv and you can keep up with all the scores from the weekend at daveking.prairiehockey.ca.
