If you are itching to get outdoors and enjoy the warmer weather, you had better reconsider your plans to head to a provincial park.

Park facilities across the province remain closed, which includes washrooms, visitor centres, picnic areas, as well as campgrounds and campsites.

“We understand many people are eager to get out of the house and spend time outdoors,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said in a press release.

“However, our provincial parks are not where people should be congregating right now. The health and safety of our visitors and staff is the main priority and we are supporting social distancing by closing these spaces, including visitor reception centres and washroom buildings. We all need to do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.”

Residents are reminded not to gather in parks. It should be noted that some trails are narrow, which means you will not be able to provide enough space when passing others.

Have questions? Although park offices are closed, you can still talk to staff by calling 1-800-205-7070 or emailing [email protected]

Sask Parks will be offering educational park programming and activities, starting Monday, March 30. Activities will be available through Facebook at 10 a.m. from Monday to Friday.
