The Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has advised that the westbound lanes of Highway #1 near Belle Plaine, Sask. are currently blocked due to multiple semi units hitting guardrails.
Detours are to be anticipated and should be expected for several hours in the area.
Anybody requiring travel is asked to slow down and follow the directions provided by emergency personnel on scene.
Roads in several parts of the province are now snow-covered and slippery.
Between midnight and 11 a.m. this morning, Sask. RCMP’s Division Operational Communications Centre (OCC) received approximately 36 reports of weather-related traffic issues province wide. These reports include multiple motor vehicle collisions and vehicles stranded in the ditch.
Motorists are advised to postpone all unnecessary travel until road conditions have cleared up. If conditions are unsafe, the best practice is to stay home.
