The Moose Jaw RCMP is continuing to search for an antique gas pump stolen from the Pasqua area on Feb. 17, early in the afternoon.

The pump had been bolted to the ground on private property when the suspects removed it, and police said they are believed to have been driving a dark coloured Dodge truck, possibly diesel due to the loud engine heard at the time of the theft.

The pump remained on the property after the former service station closed in the 1970s, and the pump’s owners estimate it to be around 100 years old.

Cpl. Jillian Boutilier said the pump holds sentimental value for both the owners and the surrounding community. Despite being located on private property, the owners allowed the public to take photos with the pump, welcoming wedding parties or interested individuals to pose with the antique.

“It’s kind of known by lots of people in the community, and people come from all around to see it,” said Boutilier, adding that although there was no signage to indicate it was a tourist attraction, it remained a popular spot within the community.

Moose Jaw RCMP are asking for anyone with information to contact them at 306-691-4760, or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
