The Moose Jaw Police Service has requested the Regina Police Service investigate the sudden death of a detained individual in the Moose Jaw Police Service detention facility.

At 8:55 a.m., Thursday, October, 7, 2021, Moose Jaw Police Service members discovered the body of a 40 year old male in an individual holding cell.  Officers had been in conversation with this individual minutes earlier.  Officers initiated CPR.  Emergency medical services personnel responded and continued resuscitation efforts.  He could not be revived and was pronounced deceased.  

In accordance with the provisions of The Police Act, 1990, the Moose Jaw Police Service has asked the Regina Police Service to investigate this death, and has requested the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety appoint an investigation observer.  The Moose Jaw Police Service continues to cooperate fully with the independent investigation and oversight bodies.
