Students are heading back to school today, which means that drivers should exercise caution when driving around schools.

Drivers need to be mindful of the reduced speed limit in school zones. As a reminder, fines for speeding in school zones are significant, and you will also be penalized three demerit points by SGI. The posted speed limit is 40 km/h.

Keep your eyes on the road at all times. Watch out for students as they walk to and from school, as children may be distracted and might not notice your vehicle. Pay particular attention to students jumping out from between parked cars.

You should also minimize distractions in your own vehicle, which includes keeping your phone put away.

Be mindful of school buses and watch for stops.
