Saskatchewan has nine new cases of COVID-19, seven of which are confirmed and two of which are presumptive. This brings the provincial total to 298 reported cases, of which 130 are considered active.
This is the first time cases have been declared presumptive since Mar. 22, which the Saskatchewan Health Authority says is because new testing machines are being added throughout the province.
A new machine at the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory is operational, and the first 10 positive cases identified must be confirmed using the lab’s previous machine for accuracy. Meadow Lake has also begun testing, and results from there must also be confirmed by the provincial laboratory.
The Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory has preformed 19,276 COVID-19 tests in the province.
Seven individuals are currently hospitalized, one less than yesterday and none are currently in intensive care.
Seventeen more individuals have recovered, bringing the provincial total to 164 recoveries.
Of the total cases in the province, 129 are travel-related, 112 are community or household transmission related, 25 have no known exposures, and 32 are still under investigation by Public Health.
Public health is reporting that 32 cases are health care workers, though they cannot identify whether transmission of the virus is healthcare-related.
Saskatoon now has 147 cases, while Regina has 63 cases, the northern parts of the province have 63 cases, the central region has 10 cases, and the south region has 15 cases.
Four deaths are now attributed to COVID-19.
