Sask Summer Games see South West make move, but Regina continues to lead in standings

Queen City likely to top medal count with single day of competition remaining, Saskatoon solidly in second

MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM -- A solid showing in track and field saw Team South West make big gains in the medal standings late Thursday and Friday, but thanks to their commanding performance from start to finish, Regina will likely take first place in the Saskatchewan Summer Games.

The Queen City continues to hold a commanding lead with 48 gold, 24 silver and 27 bronze for 99 medals, well ahead of Saskatoon in second with 24 gold, 34 silver and 25 bronze for 83 medals.

South West made a huge jump in the standings and are now third overall with 13 gold, nine silver and 12 bronze for 34 medals.

One day of competition remains in the massive multi-sport event in Lloydminster, with a host of medals to be presented Saturday as each of the events wrap up.
