More people are calling Saskatchewan home, as the province's population continues to grow.
According to Statistics Canada, the Saskatchewan's population has increased to 1,174,462 as of July 1, 2019.
This is the 53rd consecutive quarter of growth. During this period, Saskatchewan's population has increased by more than 183,000 people.
“As we get ready to enter the 2020s, our government is planning for another decade of strong growth in Saskatchewan,” said Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison in a press release. “This fall, we will release a new growth plan for the new decade, with new growth targets and actions we will take to achieve those targets.”
Saskatchewan grew by 3,435 people in the second quarter of 2019.
The growth is attributed to a net increase of 4,510 from international migration, along with a natural increase (births minus deaths) of 1,644 people. This was partially offset by net interprovincial outmigration of 2,719 people.
